If you have had to furlough any of your staff, you may be able to downgrade their licences so that you can maintain their accounts, but not pay for products they may not currently be using.
For example, if they are only using email to receive company information, then you could save money by reducing their licence to Exchange Online (Plan 1), which will still give them access to email, but only costs £3.00 per user per month.
However, should they still need access to some other Microsoft programmes, Word, Excel etc. then could this be online access rather than desktop access? If yes, then you could downgrade to Microsoft 365 Business Basic, which will give them email as well as web-based version of Word, Excel and PowerPoint etc. and also allows them to access Microsoft Teams. This costs £3.80 per user per month. Therefore, if they currently have a Microsoft 365 Business Standard licence, you could save £5.60 per user per month by downgrading.
